Colleen Wing makes her spectacular debut in a violent clip from Marvel’s Iron Fist.
Information on Colleen has been fairly light as promotion for Iron Fist gets in gear. But the new clip serves as a potent introduction of this indisputably badass character.
The new clip places Colleen (Game of Thrones alum Jessica Henwick) in a low-rent MMA style fighting cage. One of her beefy opponents taunts her.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” the announcer asks. Colleen doesn’t even deign to answer.
Colleen procedes to, what’s the technical term, whoop ass in the cage against her two enormous opponents. The fight is tough and scrappy, but Ms. Wing is clearly up to the challenge.
As demonstrated when she cracks that guy’s shoulder with her legs.
Netflix’s description offers a little more information on this even-keeled heroine.
“Colleen Wing learned martial arts after everything else was taken from her,” Netflix says. “Now, she’s putting her abilities to the test.”
Trials and challenges seem to be a theme in Marvel’s Iron Fist. Danny Rand (Finn Jones) may be a magical martial arts expert himself, but landing back in Manhattan’s world of corporate intrigue presents problems. A glowing fist may not always be the answer.
The official trailer for Iron Fist gives us a look at Danny’s challenges, as well as a few more glimpses of Colleen. The grasping Meachum family, Claire Temple, and mysterious Madam Gao also make themselves profoundly known.
After the billionaire monk gets his time to shine, the heroes of Marvel and Netflix will finally come together in The Defenders. Colleen and Claire are both set to join them, as are many other familiar faces from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage.
Marvel’s Iron Fist hits Netflix on March 17.
