While 2014 brought us some of the best hours of television that we’ve ever seen, it also brought quite a few character deaths with it.
There are few media-related things that are more devastating than a TV character death. With television shows, we get the opportunity to really get to know and become invested in characters. They become integral parts of our daily lives. Movie characters, not so much. We only get a few hours with them (even less if the movie isn’t part of a series) whereas we can spend years with TV characters.
TV characters deaths are always difficult to come to terms with, but we hope that our memorial gallery will help you move on and cherish every moment you have with the characters you have left. So, please take a moment or two of silence and scroll through our gallery of the recently departed.

In memoriam: 2014 TV character deaths

Yes, the majority of these characters were some of our most beloved heroes and heroines from our favorite shows. However, there were a few notable villain or shady character deaths as well. They wouldn’t usually be our first choice for a slow in our memorial but, because of the gravity of their deaths or the way in which they died, they certainly earned their places.
Disclaimer: While some of these characters’ deaths may not be permanent and they may (hopefully) come back to life in the coming year, these are our most beloved characters that are dead as of the end of 2014.
