In HTGAWM season 6, episode 4, both Michaela and Annalise got new men in their lives.

This episode of How to Get Away With Murder felt a little slow overall, but one of the storylines progressed much further than I’d expected. After receiving the tiniest tidbits about her birth father in each episode of HTGAWM season 4 so far, Michaela took the leap (again) and traveled to meet him. This time, her endeavor was much more fruitful.

It was interesting how Michaela’s opinion of her father shifted as his position of power increased. When she thought he was a criminal, she was open to a connection with him. However, when she discovered that he was a wealthy lawyer, she only wanted his money, convinced that he was immoral and unworthy of her love.

I’m excited to see where this story goes from here, as there’s obviously a lot we still don’t know. For starters, how Solomon Vick knew exactly who Michaela was. I’d like to hear his side of the story, and to see how it measures up with what Annalise has to say. I’m really into this as a potential full circle story arc for Michaela, for the final season of HTGAWM.

I thought it was cute that Michaela brought Gabriel with her on her Parent Trap mission, but I was also really glad that she stood up to him. Sure, maybe Michaela hadn’t considered all the possibilities, or how she would feel when confronted with the truth, but he was there supporting her, and he should’ve trusted her to know what was best for her.

Honestly, he barely knows her. Maybe she does need someone with a little more backbone than Asher had in their relationship, but that wasn’t his place. However, I do hope they can work this out next episode.

Speaking of Asher, it looks like he might finally be getting a real storyline! First, he vulnerably admitted to Connor and Oliver that he desperately wants to find love, and then, his sister comes to town. Asher’s family has been a mess in How to Get Away With Murder so far, so this is an interesting connection to make in the final season. At this point, I’m desperate to follow either one of these threads, if it gets Asher a fulfilling conclusion to his story.

The boys had the house to themselves for the weekend, but it must have felt too empty, because Connor and Oliver invited another boy over! I definitely liked parts of this narrative, but overall, it kind of seemed like Oliver was unraveling. Connor was cute and slightly apprehensive, but he probably could have been a bit less eager since Oliver was being so weird about everything. I’m nervous to see how this comes up in the future and scared about what’s actually going on with Oliver.

The boys had so much going on in their love lives in HTGAWM season 6, episode 4, that it seemed like they barely got involved in C&G’s case. It was an interesting one, tackling dating apps, incel culture, and disabilities, but it largely served as a launching point for Annalise’s new potential love interest.

I spent most of this How to Get Away With Murder episode wondering who this guy was, and I’m honestly still kind of wondering. It seems foolish to trust somebody new coming into Annalise’s life right now with the FBI circling her, and the likely outcome of the season.

All of the Eve talk in this episode just made me even hungrier for Annalise to find love with an existing character on the show. I don’t want to get to know somebody new in the last season! It’s possible that Annalise needs someone she doesn’t already have baggage with, but I feel like she also needs somebody she knows can handle all of the drama. No, she is not her past, but drama still tends to be something that follows her around.

This guy hasn’t been tested, whereas Tegan definitely has. She also seems to have a way of floating above all the drama and the baggage. As long as she’s not secretly evil, that is, which Bonnie might be coming to believe, despite Nate’s prodding. Also, Tegan recently decided to go through with her divorce, so the stage is set for love.

The brief mentions of Laurel in HTGAWM season 6, episode 4, made me wonder where the hell Frank was, but at the end of the episode, I wished I hadn’t asked. Bonnie sounded extremely scared, but he definitely can’t be dead, right?!

Other than that, HTGAWM season 6, episode 4, started off with a tiny glimpse of the flash forward, and then, surprisingly, never returned to it. All we got was a snippet of Connor’s heart attack, which we’ve already seen, and Michaela pounding on the door, pleading for him.

It was nice to see the Keating crew is sticking together, despite the FBI’s aim to divide them, but other than that, there wasn’t much to take from the How to Get Away With Murder flash forward this week. I feel like we’ve seen relatively little advancement in the flash forward in season 6, compared to other seasons. Hopefully this means we’ll get even more in the next episode of HTGAWM!
