How We Hype is a twice-monthly feature on Hypable where we tell you what we’re doing in fandom over the weekend!

Supporting One Direction – Colleen Weiler

It’s been a tough week in the 1D fandom, with the news of Zayn Malik’s departure and surrounding solo career shadiness. But there are still four other boys that are sticking around, so for them I am going to throw as many spontaneous “Best Song Ever” dance parties as I possibly can, when I’m not obsessively watching videos on YouTube, sharing GIF sets on Tumblr, or making concert plans with friends. Harry, Louis, Liam, and Niall need us now more than ever, and I for one plan to show them who the true heroes really are.

Finishing binge-watching ‘Sherlock’ – Danielle Zimmerman

This weekend, I’ll (hopefully) be able to finish binge-watching Sherlock. About a month ago, I finally became a full human being and bought a Netflix subscription after years of hemming and hawing. Since then, I’ve been watching a ton of things, including finally starting Sherlock. I’m currently one episode into the third season, so I don’t have that much to go. I should be able to finish if I buckle down and become anti-social. While I’m not a giant fan of the 90-minute format (it’s a struggle), I’m enjoying it so far. I’m starting to understand the Benedict Cumberbatch charm. Plus, it’s fun to prove my Sherlock predictions right.

Watching the ‘Veronica Mars’ movie – Christine Cannon

I’m notorious for forcing Veronica Mars on pretty much all of my friends, so I was beyond excited when my roommate wanted to try it out on her own. She caught up in only a couple of weeks and now we have a whole Veronica Mars movie night planned. It’s been just over a year since the movie was released, and since then I’ve seen it no less than five times. This viewing, however, will be the first time I’m watching it with someone else. I can’t wait to relive the magic that is Veronica Mars and possibly even have a second (and third) viewing.

Reading all the books – Jen Lamoureux

I have books piled up from one end of the house to the other and this three day weekend is the ultimate time to sit back with some tea and get some reading done. First on the pile is Illusionarium by Heather Dixon. It’s being pitched as an alternate London in which The Night Circus meets Pixar and I just need to see what that could possibly look like. Next up is I am Princess X by Cherie Priest. The story follows May, who once upon a time created a comic with her now deceased friend. May discovers an underground culture dedicated to the stories she once wrote. The more May explores the webcomic, the more she sees disturbing similarities between Libby’s story and Princess X online. And that means that only one person could have started this phenomenon. Lastly, The Invasion of the Tearling arrived last week and has been begging to be read. The second novel in the Queen of the Tearling series is sure to be filled with twists and turns as we learn more about the Red Queen and the Fetch. The story also promises to introduce new characters and possibly give us more information about what happened in the past to cause The Crossing.

Catching up on ‘The Americans’ – Kristina Lintz

The Americans is an amazing show about Russian spies living in 1980’s America. It also airs at the most inconvenient time for me to watch it live (Wednesdays, 10pm on FX). With the announcement that FX has renewed it for season 4, I’ve made a commitment to myself this weekend, after Passover Seder, before Easter festivities, to binge on the episodes I’ve missed from season 3. I won’t spoil anything here, but I will say after Mad Men and The Good Wife, it is easily one of the best dramas on television today. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Amazon Prime, so what are you waiting for? Go watch it!

Hosting an ‘Outlander’ Google Hangout – Laura Byrne-Cristiano

Once again I’m teaming up with the crew from That’s Normal as we host our weekly, live post-Outlander Google Hangout called HangOutlander. So after you watch the spring premiere on Saturday at 9:00 ET/PT on Starz, come and join the fun on Monday night at 10:00pm EST. To catch up on all things Outlander, check out our Outlander superfan interview, our newbie’s infographic, and our second Outlander superfans interview, where fans who run websites and have large Twitter followings discuss what they think are the key things to look for in the rest of the season.

Watching ‘Game of Thrones’ screeners – Michal Schick

I promise I’m not bragging, but I did get the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 today. And like any sane person granted such a boon, I’m definitely going to be spending my weekend diving back into the violent, sexy, exciting world of Westeros and beyond. Being an unrepentant Sansa fangirl, I’m most excited to see how Sophie Turner handles Sansa’s dark new incarnation – but I also can’t wait to see Arya in Braavos, Tyrion in Pentos, the power vacuum in King’s Landing, and what on Planetos is going on with those dragons!

Deciding on a new TV show to marathon – Natalie Fisher

Somehow, without realizing it, I’ve noticed that my television-watching schedule is getting a bit light! A lot of my regular shows are either currently between seasons or have just wrapped up for good, so now’s the time for me to pick out something new that everyone is talking about and do my best to catch up! At the moment, the main contenders are the newer comedies like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn 99 or Broad City, the apparently legendary Parks and Recreation, BBC’s historical man-candy dramas Poldark and The Musketeers, or delving into DC with The Flash. You see my problem? I don’t know where to start. I’m afraid of commitment. Instead of getting on with enjoying hours of television, I’m staring into space, paralyzed by my own indecision. I need to just pick one and start watching already! Any suggestions?
