Everyone should enjoy the best show on Netflix. Here’s your guide to Sense8 without sex scenes, so family movie nights aren’t uncomfortable!
Let’s face it: not everyone is comfortable seeing sex on screen, and that’s okay. You can be sex-positive and still have limits when it comes to the shows you watch. Maybe sex scenes bore you; maybe you just don’t like them; maybe they make you feel sick. Or maybe you want to enjoy Sense8 with your parents, but don’t really feel like five-minute-long orgy montages are going to go over well with them.

Of course, there’s no way to make Sense8 PG-13 or anything — there’s an impressive number of “fuck”s said throughout, a few necessary pictures of Lito and Hernando in the middle of the act, lots of naked people, and inevitable allusions to the fact that the entire cluster know each other very well. Oh, and of course, kissing. But as long as you can stomach that level of “explicit,” you should be fine.
There’s also quite a bit of graphic violence and full-frontal nudity — oh, and graphic birth scenes, which might be unsettling for some. So if that isn’t your friends’ or family’s cup of tea, that’s okay! Every warning is here.
I’m providing timestamps, but the numbers are still approximate. Netflix doesn’t really have a comfortable way for you to see at what minute and second you are, so after each number there’s a sentence describing the last shot you should be able to see comfortably, what happens in the scene you’re skipping (so you can explain).

Episode 1:
Very explicit: 21:06 (Or stop the second Capheus places his hands on the wheel, and we transition to San Francisco). Nomi and Amanita have sex. Tune back in at 22:46.
Somewhat explicit: 22:46 (Or stop the second Capheus places his hands on the wheel, and we transition to San Francisco). Lito practices his lines while humping random objects. The actress playing the nun comes in and tries to pleasure him — but Lito tells her his heart belongs to another. Tune back in at 25:36.
Episode 2:
Very explicit: 21:12 (Or stop the second Daniela says “Mmhmm” — you’ll start hearing moans before you see anything). Wolfgang has sex with a random woman. Tune back in at 21:56.
Somewhat explicit: 22:29 (Or stop the second Kala fans herself after looking at Rajan). Top-half nudity as Wolfgang and his one-night stand lie talking together — he’s craving Indian food. Tune back in at 23:02.
Somewhat explicit: 27:15 (Or stop the second Hernando says, “Damn right”). Hernando starts pleasuring Lito. Tune back in at 27:24.

Very explicit: 32:07 (Or stop the second Capheus drives away). The infamous orgy scene! Tune back in at 38:29.

Gore alert! 45:03 (When Kabaka brings down the knife). He slices the man’s hands off. Close your eyes for five seconds.

Somewhat explicit: 29:09 (Or stop the second a bathroom appears). Hernando and Lito hook up for the first time in the museum bathroom. Tune back in at 29:59.
Episode 10:
Very explicit: 42:13 (Or stop the second after the first fireworks once Will and his dad have toasted). A montage of Nomi and Amanita making love, and the fireworks. Tune back in at 43:36.
Somewhat graphic: 49:16 This montage of the sensates’ births to the sound of orchestra music does show babies coming out of vaginas. But it’s an important scene! Close your eyes for two seconds every time the camera pans down between a mother’s legs.
Episode 11:
Gore alert! 23:00 (When Sun pushes the gun away for Capheus). A lot of gory violence happens. It’s over at 24:11.
Episode 12:
Somewhat graphic: 08:19 (When Riley starts to give birth). A baby comes out of Riley. It’s at 24:11.
Season 2
Episode 1:
Somewhat explicit: 39:12 (Or the second a sleeping Lito and Hernando appear). Some light groping happens on and off until 49:49… when it leads into the next explicit montage.
Very explicit: 49:49 (Or stop the second Sun looks up in the locker room). Another orgy for the cluster! Also, Kala attempts to have sex with Rajan but is distracted by Wolfgang. She accidentally injures Rajan. Tune back in at 56:16.
Episode 2:
Gore alert! 04:12 (When Whispers gazes pointedly at a man). Will saws a man’s neck open in his vision. Close your eyes for 10 seconds.
Somewhat explicit: 12:09 (Or as soon as the shot focuses on Nomi). Full-frontal nudity with Amanita. Close your eyes and count two seconds!
Episode 3:
Somewhat explicit: 25:11 (Or as soon as Lila says, “Want to play?”). Lila and Wolfgang get busy over their connection. Tune back in at 25:35.
Somewhat explicit: 26:47 (Or as soon as Lila sits down on Wolfgang’s lap). Lila and Wolfgang continue to touch each other through their connection — which Lila calls “Playing outside your cluster” — while Felix discusses money-making plans. Tune back in at 28:10.
Episode 4:
Very explicit: 38:38 (Or stop the second Lito says, “I… I’m…”). Lito remembers meeting Raoul: his first time with a man. Raoul’s father guesses that they were lovers. Tune back in at 39:27.
Episode 5:
Somewhat explicit: 32:17 (Or stop the second Wolfgang reaches the roof). Wolfgang has a conversation with a completely naked Lila, while she tries to seduce him. There was no meeting; Lila wants something from him. Tune back in at 33:09.

Very explicit: 11:23 (Or stop once you see a wide shot of Capheus, Zakia and the bus passengers cheering for them). Wolfgang and Kala finally make love, as do Capheus and Zakia. Tune back in at 17:22.

As we clamor for a third season, it’s important to get more and more people to watch and become fans of this beloved show. And while we obviously wouldn’t want Sense8 to change for anything in the world, making it more accessible to those with different sensibilities can allow us to show it to more people, and let them recognize just how amazing this show is.
