The episode title has been named, “The Choice”. We can assume that ‘the choice’ will be that of Brody, having been seen as the character who’s loyalties are divided throughout the first and second seasons. And even now, as we approach the eleventh episode of the second season, we are still no closer to finding out which side Brody is really on. Is he really the true American war hero, or a mercenary who is betraying his own beloved country.

The writers have little time left in the second season, but one thing we can acknowledge is that they will prevail. Only a small number of episodes thus far have failed to live up to Homeland‘s own expectations, but the rest have far been nothing short of superb. With an episode title such as “The Choice” we can safely assume that we’ll be in for a thrilling episode to cap off an outstanding season of television drama.

Homeland has revealed the trailer for “The Choice”. Check it out below.

With Nazir out of the picture, Homeland season 2’s most wanted man is dead. The season is slowly coming to an end, but the pressure cooker is still relentless. Brody is now a wanted man in the eyes of Estes, who has hired ‘soldier’ Peter Quinn to assassinate Brody.

Here’s what Damian Lewis had to say on Brody’s future:

Part of the talent of this writing room is that they’re not afraid to kill the sacred cow. I think that’s what’s exciting everybody. They’re prepared to be bold in their storytelling. Who knows if they’ve got any more story up their sleeves but it’s been a thrilling ride!

But what does the trailer for, “The Choice” offer to us? Certainly a lot more than the pictures in the gallery above. Carrie and Brody slip back into their steamy sexual relationship, whilst Quinn plots for the perfect moment to kill Brody. The trailer gives the impression that Brody’s life is going to end, which is huge. Fan favourite Saul knows of Estes’s plans to eliminate Brody, and with Brody walking in the woods, so is Quinn, stalking his prey. Brody prays for Nazir, as the US Defence prepare for the burial at sea for Nazir, drawing many comparisons and inspiration between that and Bin Laden’s burial. Quinn takes aim with Brody calling out to Allah. Are they going to kill Brody off? Are they really? Damian Lewis’s interview above is really making us think twice.

Interestingly, it appears as though Carrie has opened up to Saul and has told him about their secret relationship. “There are no secrets now” whisper Carrie, which strike a great parallel between Carrie and Brody, as well as Carrie and Saul.

Showtime have offered a generous second clip hoping to explain this situation. Saul has always been so full of wisdom, and played almost a father figure to Carrie. Carrie wants a balanced life, but her life has changed since Brody entered the fray, and he knows this. Saul offers the greatest of advice and almost a sickening truth about Brody’s actions. Saul also tells her off, as being with Brody is a compromise to her career when Estes eventually finds out. Saul even has the guts to accuse Carrie of, “throwing her life away” and the scene gets a little ugly, with Saul walking away after exclaiming, “you’re the smartest and the dumbest fucking person I’ve ever known.”

Brody has since walked free of his family with Brody and Jess mutually ending their relationship at the end of the previous episode. Brody drove to see Carrie, and we all know that Carrie is the girl for him. He’s head over heels with Carrie and can’t take his mind off her. Brody is stressless around Carrie, and it’s welcoming for us viewers having been so used to seeing the man on the brink of insanity time after time. A fireplace, and a glass of wine feels all too much of a privilege, considering Carrie was walking around with a bloodied face for two days prior to this. No wonder they’re both after a, ‘clean slate’ together.
