A fairytale 2012 ending is in store for Homeland actress Claire Danes, as she welcomes her first child into the world after her on-screen success as Carrie Mathison.

Claire Danes’ publicist has announced that she has given birth to her first child, Cyrus Michael Christopher. Danes has just come off the back of a lengthy production season with Homeland as it ended its second season on Sunday evening, and is there a better way to celebrate than this?

Danes has worked tirelessly for the past 17 years since her first Golden Globe win back in 1995 for her role as Angela Chase in My So-Called Life to establish herself as a quality actress. Her credentials have led to winning the role as the leading lady of Homeland, Carrie Mathison, and 2012 has been an amazing year for Danes.

The Homeland camp have witnessed Danes win the Golden Globe for best actress performance in a television drama in January 2012. These were signs of things to come. Danes also won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award in September at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, also for her role as Carrie Mathison. And, to top this year off, she’s just had her first child. What an incredible year for the 33-year-old.

Fans will be wondering whether her new found motherhood will be interrupting the shooting schedule of the third season of Homeland. Alex Gansa, one of Homeland‘s executive producers, has already claimed that Homeland will not begin shooting until the third week of May, and that Showtime will air Homeland in the final week of September 2013.

Danes looks certain to have plenty of time for newborn Cyrus, who will inevitably be taking up all of her time until the scripts begin to be distributed out to the cast of Homeland.

Meanwhile, success for Danes looks set to continue as she has been nominated for best performance by an actress in a leading television series drama for the 2013 Golden Globes.
