High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is gearing up to bring some holiday cheer to Disney+!
Disney+ announced on Wednesday (October 7) that the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series would officially be reuniting for a brand new holiday special set to hit the streaming platform on December 11.
Clocking in at a run time of 45 minutes, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series‘ holiday special will find stars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders performing their favorite Christmas classics, a medley of Hanukkah favorites, as well as a few New Years themed songs in an effort to spread a bit of holiday cheer.
Between musical numbers, the cast will also be sharing fun anecdotes from holidays past, explaining their favorite traditions, and looking ahead to 2021 by sharing their New Years resolutions.
As a bit of an exciting treat for fans who just can’t wait to see what’s coming up next on the series itself, the High School Musical series holiday special will also feature a sneak peek performance from the show’s highly anticipated second season.
Back when we first heard word of the show’s season 2 renewal, it was announced that the next musical our resident theater loving Wildcats are set to tackle is Beauty and the Beast. Of course, we still don’t know who will be scoring which role in the next big school musical, but perhaps the sneak peek performance coming up on the holiday special will shed some more light on that matter!
December is still a ways off, but fans who just can’t wait to see which songs the cast will be performing as part of the newly announced holiday special will be able to get their chance earlier than that.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special: The Soundtrack, featuring holiday songs performed by the cast in the special, will be available beginning Friday, November 20 on all major music services and streaming platforms.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special debuts via Disney+ on December 11.
