Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical— The Series has just announced which musical the kids of East High will tackle in season 2–and it’s probably not what you’re expecting!
The first season of High School Musical: The Musical— The Series ended on a high note with East High’s newest generation of Wildcats successfully putting on a performance of the titular musical in question.
But just because their HSM production has closed doesn’t mean East High’s drama department is gearing up to take a break. In fact, the cast and crew are already hard at work on their next musical production.
On Wednesday (February 5), Disney+ took to Twitter to reveal which musical Nini (Olivia Rodrigo), Ricky (Joshua Bassett) and the rest of the gang would be tackling as part of High School Musical: The Musical— The Series season 2.
Turns out, they won’t in fact be putting on a production of the hit Disney Channel Original Movie’s sequel.
Instead, High School Musical: The Musical— The Series season 2 will find the Wildcats taking on a production of the hit Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast.
Season 2. Coming soon. “Will you be our guest?” Tweeted the streamer with regards to the series’ second season.

The announcement was paired with a fun video featuring the entire cast gathered around the piano performing a stripped back rendition of Beauty and the Beast’s titular track.
There’s no word yet on which Wildcat will score which role, but we’ll be excited to find out when the time comes!
