According to Deadline, actress Leslie Grace has scored the coveted starring role in Warner Bros. and DC Films’ upcoming Batgirl movie.

The studios have yet to officially comment on today’s big casting news, but sources say that Grace will take on the role of Barbara Gordon for the forthcoming superhero flick.

For the uninitiate, Barbara Gordon is the daughter of Batman’s longtime precinct pal, Commissioner Gordon. Barbara first made her debut as Batgirl in the comics back in 1967.

Plot details for the forthcoming Batgirl movie are scarce, as is word of an official release date. One thing we do know is that the DC Film is set to skip theaters altogether and head straight to HBO Max.

Movie fans can currently catch Leslie Grace in action as part of the big screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights, where she plays Nina Rosario.
