The producer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child believes that millennials want a third part to the eighth story.

Sonia Friedman makes the comment in a new feature published by The New York Times on Wednesday to promote The Cursed Child’s opening on Broadway.

When asked asked if the length of the show (5+ hours over two parts) is too long for parents whose children are dragging them to see it, Friedman says the “majority of the fan base” is now between the ages of 25 and 35. And the fans like it so much that they “would like Part 3.”

While The New York Times’ new look at The Cursed Child — which includes a new interview with J.K. Rowling and company — is a good read, I’m puzzled by Friedman’s remark. I love the show and I’ll be the first to tell you that it moves at a nice pace, but I’ve never heard that there should be more.

That said, she is right that most Harry Potter fans are now in their 20s or older. We grew up with the series and the show can easily captivate adults.

It’s highly doubtful that The Cursed Child Part 3 will ever happen — after all, there’d need to be more story after that crazy shit that happens in the first two parts — but it’s pretty funny that there’s a belief internally that the fans are digging it that much.

As a couple people told me on Twitter, maybe Part 3 makes SCORBUS real. In that case, I’m all for it.
