Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is getting a title update at the box office.

Warner Brothers– the studio behind DC Comics movies latest film, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)— is looking to give the comic book movie a title update.

Henceforth, the film will officially be titled Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.

The title change, which is effective immediately, will switch over to the condensed title across all theater chain sites, with comicbook.com reporting that both AMC Theaters and Regal Cinemas have already updated their listings to reflect the new title.

So what’s up with the title switch? Though Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the matter, the change up seems to come down to the fact that Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey has struggled to perform at the box office since hitting theaters this past Friday.

In fact, according to Box Office Mojo, the film (which had a budget of $88.5 million) only grossed about $33.2 million in its opening weekend, though it was expected to rake in about $50 million.

Birds of Prey ’s box office numbers look especially shabby when compared to previous R-rated comic book movies. To give you some perspective, Deadpool raked in $130 million in its opening week. Meanwhile, last year’s Joker brought in $90 million during its opening weekend run.

That Birds of Prey is struggling at the box office is especially disheartening given the rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Specifically, over on RottenTomatoes.com, the film currently boasts an 80 percent certified fresh score via the review aggregating site’s Tomatometer. Additionally, the female-led comic book adaptation is sitting pretty with an 81 percent audience score.

Though the title change might seem strange (especially given that its occurring after the film has released in theater), we’re sure fans of the movie won’t mind–especially if it results in more people going out to see the movie, and in turn, showing Warner Brothers that there’s good reason to greenlight a sequel!
