Joker has officially become the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time, surpassing the record previously held by Deadpool 2.
Joker has passed the $800 million mark, worldwide, according to Business Wire. The Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, Toby Emmerich, shared the news of the movie’s record setting earnings, this weekend.

Prior to this weekend, the record for highest grossing R-rated movie belonged to everyone’s favorite antihero, Deadpool. The first Deadpool movie brought in $782 million at the global box office, while Deadpool 2 surpassed its predecessor with a $785 million take, worldwide. However, it should be noted that Deadpool 2’s earnings include its re-cut PG-13 release.
In typical Ryan Reynolds fashion, the actor tweeted out his “congratulations” with the following image, with the Joker dancing on top of all the characters who have held the title before him.
