Love ’em or hate ’em, two standout characters from Suicide Squad were Harley and the Joker, and Margot Robbie thinks they should get their own movie.

We’ve talked extensively about Suicide Squad’s success despite all the negative commentary surrounding the film. Both Harley Quinn and the Joker have also been in the headlines, with fans and critics alike sharing their decisive views on both character portrayal and actor performances.

Whether or not you liked Suicide Squad, you have to admit we saw only a slice of Harley and Joker’s story. Jared Leto recently revealed that many of his scenes were cut from the movie, and in an interview on Tipsy Talk (below), Robbie says it may have been to better focus on the main story.

That being said, there’s plenty of story left to tell for Harley and Joker. In Suicide Squad, we saw flashes of Harley’s origin stories, including her time as Joker’s psychiatrist, the moment she decided his wishes were greater than even her life, and the period where she and Joker were living large.

By the end of the film, we know that Joker steals her away from prison, which, of course, leaves plenty of story ripe for telling.

“There’s just so much more to do,” Robbie says.

Luckily for fans of the DC universe, Robbie thinks there’s more to do not just in regards to Harley and Joker’s story, but in regards to many of the other heroes and villains found in the source material.

As we learned back in May, Robbie is already helping WB to develop a different Harley spinoff that may include the likes of Batgirl, among others. It would be an all-female led film, the first of its kind in the superhero universe.

WB is already making strides in this department, with Wonder Woman coming out next year. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Captain Marvel will debut in 2019.
