Some of the best Halloween movies on Netflix in 2018 are fun, while some are downright nightmare inducing. Light the Jack-o-lantern, grab the candy corn, and get ready for a spooktacular Netflix binge-watch session.

Halloween movies on Netflix in 2018

(We mention 2018 because Netflix is constantly changing their catalog.)

‘Scooby Doo’

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. star in this 2002 live-action adaptation of the beloved children’s cartoon Scooby Doo. The movie is surprisingly spooky for a children’s film, but is still a safe bet for a nice family Halloween family.

‘Coraline’

A bit Alice in Wonderland mixed with The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline is a creepy stop-motion animation starring the voice talent of Dakota Fanning. It follows Coraline as she ventures into a mirror world of her own, in which she finds danger and adventure in her interactions with the button-eyed people.

‘The Sixth Sense’

“I see dead people.” That iconic line was delivered in an even more iconic performance by child-star actor Haley Joel Osment. Bruce Willis attempts to help Osment cope with the ghosts roaming around the child’s house, unveiling a twist that still shocks moviegoers to this day.

‘It Follows’

It Follows is an award-winning horror movie where the protagonist is plagued with a supernatural STD of sorts. Purposefully timeless and wonderfully suspenseful, It Follows feeds off of the nostalgia of retro slow burners like 1978’s Halloween and the original A Nightmare on Elm Street.

‘The Shining’

Grab a blanket and cuddle up to a loved one as you realize just what happens when all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall deliver spectacular, career-defining performances in a movie that encompassed the majority of horror pop culture in the 1980’s.

‘Interview with the Vampire’

This star-studded vampire flick follows Tom Cruise as he, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Brad Pitt, and a young Kirsten Dunst vamp around town. This film is a movie adaptation of the book of the same title, written by author Anne Rice.

‘The Village’

Ah, M. Night Shyamalan when he was still making quality films. This 2004 period film stars Bryce Dallas Howard as she discovers the dark secrets of her secluded village. This movie also stars Joaquin Phoenix and Adrien Brody, and has a great twist of an ending (as Shyamalan is now known for).

‘Scream 4’

As a major fan of the Scream franchise, I can safely say that you won’t be disappointed in this wonderful 2011 film starring the now scream queen Emma Roberts. It’s been some time since Sydney received that first creepy phone call from Ghostface, and now, he’s back to finish off her and her family for good.

‘As Above So Below’

Follow spelunking tourists down the darkest depths of the Parisian Catacombs as they discover that their adventure may be cut short by the secrets that lie beneath the bones. Check this one out if you are a fan of found-footage films like Blair Witch Project and cave dweller flicks like The Descent.

‘The Boy’

Starring The Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohan, this film follows a nanny with a dark past as she is tasked with caring for a porcelain doll. The doll’s parents believe that the spirit of their son lives on in the doll, making for a great haunted house thriller of a film.

‘The Babysitter’

A Netflix original horror comedy, this movie adds buckets of gore and violence onto buckets of gore and violence. While it’s not one for the weak of heart, it’s a great film for those of you looking for some slapstick comedy with your beheadings and eviscerations.

‘Hush’

This home invasion film follows a deaf protagonist as she fends off her masked intruder. Hush is a beautiful film, taking notes from The Strangers and When a Stranger Calls.

‘Veronica’

A foreign film that delights in suspense and mystery, Veronica was the 2017 horror film that many said was the scariest Netflix movie in a while. Veronica tries to contact her dad via a Ouija board, and yeah, you probably can guess what happens next.

‘The Conjuring’

One of the best horror movies of modern-day cinema, The Conjuring is a great haunted house flick that builds up the film’s universe wonderfully. The scares are genuine, and are bound to make you question what just went bump in the night.

‘The VVitch’

This coming of age story perfectly fits into the mold of shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. The VVitch takes the concept of The Village and runs with it, giving rise to a brilliant performance in Anya Taylor-Joy’s leading role.

Bonus! Netflix Halloween TV shows

On top of the Halloween movies on Netflix mentioned above, the streaming service has some great spooky shows to binge-watch.
