Due to a scheduling conflict, Chris Evans will no longer play Emily Blunt’s husband in The Girl on the Train.

It was too good to be true: Chris Evans, Jared Leto, Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson all in one movie. It’s still pretty great though, because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Aniston’s husband and Leftovers star Justin Theroux is being eyed as Evans’ replacement.

Chris Evans was never actually signed on to this project, only in talks, and scheduling conflicts are obviously a common reason why actors drop out of projects. But considering the rumors surrounding Captain America’s fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can’t help but wonder what, exactly, his schedule clashed with.

Emily Blunt plays the titular “girl” in the upcoming DreamWorks adaptation of the bestselling Paula Hawkins novel. She is a troubled alcoholic, whose ex-husband (formerly Evans, now Theroux) left her for his mistress.

While riding the (also titular) train, the girl becomes fascinated with a seemingly perfect couple, whose home she passes on the way.

Tate Taylor (The Help is set to direct The Girl on the Train, with a script by Erin Cressida Wilson (Chloe).

The novel rocketed to the top of bestseller lists after its release in January 2015, and has been compared to popular, similarly themed books like Gone Girl and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (lesson learned: put the word “girl” in your title, and you’ve got yourself a hit novel).
