HBO is reportedly developing four (yes, FOUR) different Game of Thrones spinoffs. Plan the rest of your life accordingly.

According to EW, the four new Game of Thrones spinoffs are being developed by different writers. Word of a proposed spinoff to the wildly popular fantasy series has been floating for years, but developing four related projects at once is an unprecedented move for HBO.
But then again, Game of Thrones has never been defined by half measures.
HBO is characteristically vague on the details of the Game of Thrones spinoffs. Each story will “explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe,” the network says.
Translation: Speculate your hearts out, people!
Despite the cryptic announcement, it has been revealed that A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin is involved with two of the Game of Thrones spinoffs. Martin is working on projects developed by Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class) and the other with Carly Wray (Mad Men.)
Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) and Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale) are scripting the other two spinoffs.
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will keep a finger in the pot, despite having declared their intention to leave the world of Westeros behind when the series concludes next year.
“Weiss and Benioff continue to work on finishing up the seventh season and are already in the midst of writing and preparing for the eighth and final season,” HBO says. “We have kept them up to date on our plans and they will be attached, along with George R. R. Martin, as executive producers on all projects. We will support them as they take a much-deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete.”
With the future so potentially plentiful, it’s easy to forget that Game of Thrones season 7 is rapidly approaching. The atmospheric trailer and ominous set photos may not distract you from the news of four separate spinoffs… but hey, they’re nice to look at.
