Game of Thrones season 8 may is coming soon-ish, HBO says, while teasing the fate of other spinoffs.

Speaking today at the Television Critics Association, HBO’s president of programming Casey Bloys offered the first solid hint about the highly-anticipated airing of Game of Thrones season 8.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bloys teased that the final six, super-sized episodes will hit the airwaves in the first half of 2019. That means that Game of Thrones season 8 might actually air in the winter for once — or (perhaps more likely) the show will return to the mid-April slot in which it was born back in 2011.

Bloys was tight-lipped about the final season, saying only that “It’s pretty great.”

Cool, thanks, good to know, man.

As for what’s next after the curtain drops on Game of Thrones‘ bloody stage? Bloys also offered an update on the Game of Thrones spinoff being hatched and helmed by Jane Goldman. Temporarily titled “The Long Night,” this prequel series is presumed to explore the epic ancient history of Westeros and beyond.

“We’re just starting the search for director [and] casting director,” Bloys says. In contrast to rumors stating that production on the Game of Thrones spinoff would start as early as October, he added that they would be “shooting sometime in the new year. Beyond that, no plans to make other ones.”

That last bit might be putting the kibosh on the four other spinoff ideas in development. But just like the Game of Thrones season 8 release date, only HBO can say for certain.
