A whopping 20 character posters have been released for Game of Thrones season 8, laying out the claimants for the Iron Throne.

Paralleling the central promotional image for the show’s first season, the Game of Thrones posters set characters both great and small on the Iron Throne of Westeros. While it seems unlikely that some of the featured characters are viable candidates for the final prize (I really don’t know about Grey Worm…), the posters definitely convey the high-stakes, winner-takes-all nature of the cataclysmic final season of Game of Thrones.

First up among the #ForTheThrone candidates are the remaining members of House Stark:

Nice robe, Bran.

Next up, their primary supporters, including Davos Seaworth, Theon Greyjoy, Sam Tarly, Sandor Clegane, and Brienne of Tarth:

Then we have the remaining (and divided) members of House Lannister:

And their (well, Cersei’s), uh, only remaining ally, Euron Greyjoy:

Then, of course, we have the arrayed elements of Team Daenerys, which includes Jorah, Missandei, and Varys:

Aw, Grey Worm. Dream big, buddy.

Finally, we have the central antagonist of the final season of Game of Thrones, the Final Boss, and the figure who makes all this talk of thrones, frankly, rather redundant: The Night King.

Yikes. No question that the snow is going to hit the fan by the time Game of Thrones season 8 comes to an end.

On a lighter (and much cuter) note, Twitter has also unveiled their new emojis corresponding with the main characters of the final season. Check them out in high resolution here, and get to hashtagging!

Anyone else suddenly in the mood for an animated version of Game of Thrones? Just me? Okay.
