Two new sneak peeks and more stills offer a look at plans churning in every corner of Westeros, and beyond.

The first clip, which is presumably from the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere, “The Wars to Come,” features a conversation between Tyrion and Varys. Though the implications are subtle for now, we suspect that the subject matter may prove pivotal in the larger story.

Tyrion seems to be in a rather glum state of mind after murdering his father and Shae, and fleeing the Seven Kingdoms in a box. But Varys seems confident that Tyrion has a larger role to play in the eventual redemption of Westeros.

The second sneak peek focuses on Jon Snow and Mance Rayder. Though it is similar to one released earlier, this clip hints at tension rising between Mance and the finally-succesful-at-something Stannis Baratheon.

Both Jon’s struggles in the North and Tyrion’s attempts to find his feet across the Narrow Sea are given attention in a recent teaser for Game of Thrones season 5.

A longer and more complicated trailer was also released at the recent Apple summit – and offers some very specific context to Varys question of “Who said anything about ‘him’?”

Meanwhile, new stills photos from the official Game of Thrones Facebook page offer a look at other members of the Lannister family. Cersei and Jaime continue their ugly dance in King’s Landing, while their daughter Myrcella (now played by Nell Tiger Free) connects to her betrothed Trystane Martell down in Dorne.

Ah yes, and we couldn’t forget Melisandre. There she is.

House Martell of Dorne is set to play a major role in Game of Thrones season 5, and Myrcella’s betrothal is the least of it. Prince Oberyn’s ferocious bastard daughters, dubbed “the Sand Snakes,” are hell-bent on revenge for their father’s death. But their uncle, Prince Doran, has much deeper plans at work – and though the Martells are fiercely loyal to their family, let’s just say that the Dornish as a whole are not exactly known for their cool heads.

Game of Thrones season 5 will premiere on Sunday, April 12 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
