HBO and George RR Martin have stepped up their game as Game of Thrones season 4 approaches. Here’s the latest news from around the realm!

Though traditionally innovative with their approach to promotional material, HBO may just have topped themselves in London this week. In addition to exciting trailers and behind-the-scenes features, HBO added a little live-action London promotion for Game of Thrones season 4.

Painted on a gigantic canvas in Bishop’s Square, the one-day-only installation provides a jaw-dropping artistic look at the Wall dividing Westeros from the wildlings. Commissioned by HBO from 3D street artists Joe and Max, the new artwork is not only stunning, but also the first of it’s kind – the three-dimensional effect can be seen from multiple angles.

For those of us not lucky enough to live in London, author George RR Martin has announced an exciting opportunity for fans on the other side of the world to enjoy Game of Thrones season 4. On his by-now-ironically-named “Not A Blog,” Martin announced the first public screening of Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1 at his own Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe on March 29. The episode will be shown three times through the day. The first two screenings (the first of which will be dubbed in Spanish) will be open to lucky and patient fans, while the final evening screening will be an invitation-only event.

“There’s lots more surprises in store,” Martin writes, “But I will save those announcements for later down the line. For now, suffice it to say: WINTER IS COMING TO SANTA FE!”

In other Martin-related news, British book chain Waterstones has announced a new printing of A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series on which Game of Thrones is based. The printing will feature new cover art inspired by the landscapes of Westeros and the lands beyond the Narrow Sea.

Says designer Richard Augustus, the new covers aim to reflect the “epic scale” of A Song of Ice and Fire, in addition to appealing “to readers who may have heard of or seen Game of Thrones… but aren’t familiar with the books yet.” As with previous UK editions, the two largest books in the series – book three, A Storm of Swords, and book five, A Dance With Dragons – will each be published in two halves with distinct cover art.

The new editions will be released on March 27.

Game of Thrones season 4 will premiere on April 6 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
