The second full-length trailer for Game of Thrones season 4 has just aired on HBO, amping up the excitement for another year of intrigue, sorcery, and dragons.
Though fans of HBO’s epic fantasy series must hold out for the (hopeful) warmth of April until the premiere of Game of Thrones season 4, the network kept the fires of anticipation burning tonight with a new trailer for the upcoming season.
The new trailer aired just before tonight’s episode of True Detective, another HBO series that has been building in critical acclaim… but it probably doesn’t have dragons.
HBO has not been stingy with their promotional material for Game of Thrones season 4, especially considering that the season premiere is still some time away. The first trailer for Game of Thrones season 4 debuted in mid-January, and focused on the building turmoil that plagues both Westeros and Daenerys’ new seat in the formerly slave-driven city of Meereen.
And just last week, HBO aired a 15-minute preview featurette for Game of Thrones season 4 called Game of Thrones: Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing. The preview offered fresh new footage of the excitement and gore with which the new season is sure to be replete.

In addition, the Foreshadowing took fans behind the scenes of season 4, introducing new characters and posing several fan-sourced questions to central actors in Game of Thrones season 4. Game of Thrones: Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing has been viewed more than seven million times on YouTube since its initial airing just one week ago.

Game of Thrones season 4 will premiere in its established slot on April 6, at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
