This past Tuesday, May 6, was the tenth anniversary of the Friends series finale. Since we still can’t get The Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There For You” out of our heads, we thought we would celebrate with all of our favorite Friends quotes.
After all, no TV show has had quite an impact on our lives or on media itself as Friends. Hell, nothing other than Mean Girls has impacted the way we speak as much as Friends has!
Though there were so many memorable moments (and so many memorable quotes and exchanges that happened in those moments) throughout the ten years that Friends was on the air we decided that we should probably narrow down our list of favorite quotes to a manageable amount.
We hope you enjoy (and agree with) our top twenty favorite Friends quotes (in no particular order because that would’ve been way too hard).
‘Oh, no.’
Admit it, you say this the exact same way that she does without even thinking about it. We know we do. Instead of a simple gif, we hope you enjoy this mashup of all of Phoebe’s “Oh no”s instead.
‘We were on a break!’
Via fuckyeahfriends.tumblr.com
Who could ever forget that they were on a break? Or, at least, that Ross thought they were on a break. (We wouldn’t dare to take sides on this one.)
‘Could I BE wearing any more clothes?’
Via maskmajora.tumblr.com
Could Joey do a better impression of Chandler? But really. Also, we’re sure he probably could wear a few more layers if he tried.
‘It’s a moo point.’

After hearing this while watching Friends, we have to say: We’re with Rachel on this one. Joey was actually making a tiny bit of sense!
‘I got off the plane.’
Via maskmajora.tumblr.com
Simple, short, and to the point, this line from Rachel is probably one of the most romantic lines of the entire series. It makes us fall in love every time.
‘Pivot. PIVOT.’
Via fyeahfriendsgifs.tumblr.com
Who knew that one word could become so annoying? We never paid that much attention to the word “pivot” in general but now? Who could ever forget it? (Especially while moving furniture.)
‘They don’t know that we know that they know.’
Via drunktuesdaze.tumblr.com
When Phoebe started trying to keep track of who knew what about Chandler and Monica, we had a hard time trying to keep track of her keeping track. Does that make sense?
‘Isn’t that just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic?’
Via gohomelifeyouredrunk.tumblr.com
Well, that’s one way of saying it. One tongue-twisting, slightly dramatic way. But accurate and effective nonetheless, that’s for sure.
‘The fridge broke, so I had to eat everything.’
Via kingdomheartsreactions.tumblr.com
Story of our lives. In all honesty, if we were in his shoes, we’d end up doing the same thing.
‘Welcome to the real world. It sucks. You’re gonna love it!’
Via hellyeahchandlerbing.tumblr.com
Never has a welcome message been so questionable. Or accurate. Twenty years later, Monica’s real world invitation still rings true.

‘Sure I peed on her. And if I had to, I’d pee on any one of you!’
Via soymuyminita.tumblr.com
Now that’s what we call friendship. But in the most “worst case scenario”-kind of way, of course.
‘I’m not so good at advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?’
Via narwhaaal.tumblr.com
No Chandler, you’re not. But yes, yes you may. Your sarcasm is perfection.
‘THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!’
Via Tumblr.com
We may or may not have just realized that Phoebe is easily the most quotable character on Friends. More than that, she has the most lines (this one included) that we use in everyday life.
‘Hey, just so you know: It’s NOT that common, it DOESN’T ‘happen to every guy,’ and it IS a big deal!’ ‘I KNEW it!’
Via daysoffuturenow.tumblr.com
Well, that’s one way to get to a guy.
‘You’re over me? When were you… under me?’
Via friends-rewatch.tumblr.com
We don’t understand how Ross could make such a potentially dirty line sound so incredibly depressing. His line seriously breaks our hearts every time.
‘Smelly cat, smelly cat. What are they feeding you?’
Via farewell-fairgr0unds.tumblr.com
If you don’t know all the words to the chorus of “Smelly Cat,” we honestly don’t know what to do with you. This was definitely one of the best recurring Friends jokes. Hands down.
‘Oh… my… GOD.’
Via friendsfunny.tumblr.com
To this day, these words (said slowly in a nasal voice) still give us the willies. We’re scarred for life. (And we’re not quite sure if that’s in a good way.)
‘How you doin’?’
Via friendsfans.tumblr.com
Classic Joey. Classic Friends, really. Even though his catchphrase wasn’t introduced until episode 13 of the fourth season (“The One With Rachel’s Crush”), it feels like he’s been winning chicks over with it since the very beginning.
‘So why don’t you be a grown up and come and watch some TV in the fort?’
Via crushabledotcom.tumblr.com
Years ago, we would’ve found this funny because we would have thought that this wasn’t what adults did. However, ten years after Friends said goodbye, we’re definitely rethinking what makes that line funny. Because forts are never not awesome.
The fist bump thing.

Ok, so sometimes actions speak louder than words. This action is so popular among Friends fans that it’s practically a quote. So there.
