With Rick Famuyiwa exiting DC’s The Flash movie, Warner Bros. is eyeing Robert Zemeckis and Matthew Vaughn as potential replacements.

As EW reports, it’s been six months since Warner Bros.’ The Flash solo movie, starring Ezra Miller as the big-screen Barry Allen, lost its director when Rick Famuyiwa exited the project citing creative differences.

But now, none other than Back to the Future‘s Robert Zemeckis has been eyed as frontrunner to replace Famuyiwa. Not a bad choice, considering the potential Marty McFly/Barry Allen similarities that could be drawn.

EW notes that Zemeckis will likely be developing the project, from a new version of the script by King Arthur: Legend of the Sword‘s Joby Harold.

Also in contention to direct The Flash is Matthew Vaughn, another interesting choice considering his resumé which includes Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and the Kingsmen movies.

Ezra Miller makes his DC debut in Justice League, which hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
