The latest Final Fantasy 7 remake trailer is mind-blowingly gorgeous, making the wait for the game’s Spring release seem oh so far away.

The TGS Final Fantasy 7 remake trailer showcases not only the game’s combat, but also some of the most beautifully rendered in-game cutscenes that I have seen out of any video game. The animations are fluid, textures have life-like sheens and grime, and the magic of what makes the series so beloved is ever-present.

Check out the Midgar section of the Final Fantasy 7 remake in the trailer from the Tokyo Game Show 2019.

After a now series-standard bloated development time, it seems as though Square Enix is doubling down on their efforts to make the best Final Fantasy possible, even if it is a remake of one of the best video games of all time. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll be able to tell the difference between the in-game cutscenes and the pre-rendered ones. It just looks that stunning.

While Final Fantasy XV was pretty, it underdelivered with subpar story and glitchy combat. Hopefully, the VII remake strays far away from the troubled path of XV.

In the TGS 2019 trailer, Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa all do battle with their enemies of Midgar City. They use staffs, a buster sword, and fisticuffs to do away with their adversaries, casting a little magic ever now and again to spice up the combat. Summons will be key to winning the tougher battles, like the final boss fight against the dastardly One Winged Angel.

The Final Fantasy 7 remake will release in episodic chunks, with the first of the episodes hitting this Spring. While we don’t have a release date for the other Final Fantasy 7 remake episodes, the March 3, 2019 release date seems pretty set in stone. The JRPG megahit remake will release exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
