What will Annalise and her team be up to when How to Get Away With Murder season 5 premieres?

When we last left the Keating 5 (4?, 6?), things were possibly even crazier than ever. They may have successfully gotten Jorge Castillo behind bars, but the group took a hit in the process.

Laurel and Michaela are potentially on much darker paths, Coliver has a wedding to plan, Simon has been deported, Frank is back to his old tricks, and…pretty much everybody else is in contention to be Gabriel’s parent. Here’s everything we know about the craziness that will ensue in How to Get Away With Murder season 5.

The show will return…

…on September 27! How to Get Away With Murder will return to Thursday nights on ABC at 10/9c. It will return to the #TGIT line up following Grey’s Anatomy, and now that Scandal is over, the pair will be joined by Station 19 on October 4.

Gabriel is here to stay

Who, exactly, is Gabriel? We still don’t know, but we do know that Rome Flynn will be a series regular in season 5. Our best guesses are that he’s either Annalise or Nate’s child, but we also know that Frank knows his mother. That’s interesting because of that “child alive?” sticker that we saw on Bonnie’s file!

Age wise, it definitely doesn’t seem like Gabriel could be Bonnie’s child, but much stranger things have certainly happened on How to Get Away With Murder.

We’ll be seeing a lot more of Tegan

Amirah Vann, who plays Michaela’s former boss, Tegan, has also been upgraded to series regular for season 5! She’s always been a great mentor and friend to Michaela, so hopefully they’ll be able to salvage their relationship and Tegan will be able to help Michaela figure things out in season 5.

Timothy Hutton will be a big part of the season

Timothy Hutton, from American Crime, is coming into season 5 as a brand new character, but he’s already a series regular. We don’t have any details about his character yet, but we’re guessing he’ll only make things more complicated for Annalise.

Nate might actually have to pick a side

Ever since the beginning of How to Get Away With Murder, it’s been almost impossible to know who Nate was going to be loyal to. His allegiances are shifting faster than Frank can plant evidence.

In season 5, he’ll have all the leverage he needs to bring down Annalise and her team, since he received all of Denver’s files. The question is, will he use them?

The time jumps aren’t going anywhere

We’ll still be dealing with the tangled time lines in How to Get Away With Murder season 5, however, the showrunner, Pete Nowalk, has promised that this season’s flash forward will be “more fun” than past seasons. Does that mean that there’s no murder in the future for this season? Either way, we’re excited to see them play with the format!

We’ll probably see Marcus again

After the HTGAWM/Scandal crossover, Pete Nowalk indicated that there might be more to see when it comes to Michaela and Marcus. Now that Michaela is single (although hopefully she and Asher still have a chance), their chemistry could pay off.
