Empire season 2, episode 2, “Without A Country,” airs tonight and we get to meet Ludacris as Officer McKnight!
Last week’s season 2 premiere of Empire was filled with twists and turns. After the three-month time jump we found Lucious in jail with (who we thought was) his buddy Frank Gathers (Chris Rock). While Lucious has been locked up, Cookie, Hakeem, Andre and Anika have been looking for ways to continue their hostile takeover.
When Cookie starts making deals with Mimi Whiteman (Marissa Tomei) — pimping out Anika in the process — Lucious catches wind of it from behind bars. In his usual badass form, he sways Mimi to his side because Lucious is still the face of Empire.
Throughout the episode Cookie was unknowingly being taunted by Frank Gathers after he found out she snitched on him. He discovered that that’s how she was released from prison so soon. Cookie paid Lucious a visit and asked for his help. We think it’s safe to say that Frank Gathers is no longer a threat. Lucious, however, will remain a threat to all as long as he stays as wealthy as he is.

“Cookie and her cohorts decide to start their own small record label, but their opposing visions make for a bumpy start to the venture. Meanwhile, Hakeem woos a hot Latina singer for the girl group he wants to form; Lucious hires a new lawyer and records an epic track from inside jail; and Jamal proves to be just as ruthless as his father when making business moves.”

The stills above give us a nice preview of Ludacris as Officer McKnight in his uniform. Things don’t seem too pleasant between he and Lucious and we look forward to all of their onscreen tension. Also, it seems that Cookie is trying to get Hakeem and Tiana to either do a collaboration together or simply just to be friends again. Hakeem doesn’t seem too keen on it though.
Lastly, we’re hoping this little get together between Cookie, Jamal and Michael is a good one, we’d hate to see Michael get eaten by these Lyons.

The above promo seemed to be more of a preview of the rest of season 2. We get a glimpse of Lucious making music behind bars and then we get others of him out of them all together. We can deduce that once Lucious does get out that he fires Cookie, Andre and Anika. They then seem to try and create their own company and hopefully tear down Empire in the process.
