During their Story of Frozen television special, Disney revealed that a Frozen short film was in development with a new song. They’ve announced Frozen Fever will be released on March 13, in front of Cinderella in theaters.

Disney’s Frozen short film release date has been set, and will premiere in front of Cinderella in theaters. “In Frozen Fever, it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk,” said Disney in a statement via email after the television event.

Frozen’s directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are returning to helm the short. The film’s songwriters will also be back for the short’s new song. The length and story details about the short film are not known at this time.

The new Frozen short film follows in the footsteps of the original film’s huge box office (over $1 billion globally). Since its run in theaters late last year, Disney has announced plans for a Broadway musical, a Disney On Ice show, and children’s books based on Anna and Elsa’s life.

We look forward to seeing Frozen’s short film when it premieres in front of Disney’s highly anticipated Cinderella adaptation.
