Get ready to return to the world of Tangled: Disney Channel is bringing back original stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi for an animated TV series!

One of Disney’s most beloved movies from the modern era, fans were dismayed to learn that Tangled would never get a sequel.

At the end of the 2010 movie, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) gave up her magical hair to save Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), and the pair were left to their happily ever after…

Until now!

Executively produced by Chris Sonnenberg and Shane Prigmore, the animated Tangled TV series will take place between the events of the feature film and the 2012 follow-up short Tangled Ever After.

Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will both reprise their roles for the Disney Channel series, with Alan Menken and Glenn Slater providing music and lyrics.

As Rapunzel is still rather new to the world of polite society, the series will find her reacquainting herself with her estranged parents, and the kingdom of Corona.

She puts off her royal responsibilities — and her marriage to Flynn (aka. Eugene Fitzherbert) — in order to embark on a series of exciting adventures.

Her hilarious horse Maximus and their lizard sidekick Pascal will of course join Rapunzel and Flynn on their travels; the series will also introduce the “tough-as-nails” handmaiden Cassandra.

The Tangled TV series is set to premiere in 2017.
