Dexter season 8 has had its first round of official stills released by Showtime as we see Dexter “meet” Dr. Evelyn Vogel and get a closer look at Debra.

Dexter season 8 premieres at the end of this month, and Showtime has released official stills for the first few episodes, giving fans a quick glimpse in what is to happen in the series’ final season.

6 months will have passed between the end of Dexter season 7 to the start of Dexter season 8, and those who have been absorbing all the teasers, trailers and interviews that the Dexter crew have been dishing out, it appears as though very much has changed in just 6 months.

This season, although its last, will of course focus on Michael C. Hall’s character, Dexter, but we feel as though this season is just as much about his on-screen sister, Debra, as it is with him. Jennifer Carpenter will certainly be doing the best possible acting in what will be an emotional farewell to this chapter in her life, and we’re happy to see the writers behind Dexter really giving her character huge amounts of screen time, albeit a stormy storyline.

There’s so much to say regarding the 14 piece photo gallery we’ve provided courtesy of Randy Tepper of Showtime. The most interesting piece of information regarding the gallery is that we have the characters confirmed for at least the first four episodes.

We’ll definitely get a glimpse of the new cast members, Charlotte Rampling, Sean Patrick Flanery and Andrew Briggs, as well as all our old favourites.

The most interesting aspect is no inclusion of Yvonne Strahovski as Hannah McKay and Nick Gomez as Javier Guzman. We expected to see Gomez in full character, but there’s no surprise of the lack of inclusion of McKay due to our predictions of her making an appearance later on in the series.

What do you think about Showtime’s release of Dexter season 8 stills? What do you expect to happen in the final season?

Dexter returns this month on June 30, over on Showtime.
