Dexter has hosted its final premiere party, with the cast of all eight seasons saying goodbye to the cult series from Showtime.

With June 30 earmarked in millions of fans diaries, we’re doing our very hardest to avoid September 15, the day that Dexter season 8 ends.

Showtime have given Dexter its final farewell in the season 8 premiere party, and didn’t they put on a good show for the cast?

It looks like the set designers really did a fantastic job with custom made cupcakes, signature cocktails such as “The Dark Passenger” and props from throughout the series in all corners of the room. There’s no question that the Dexter theme was spilled out across the room, with the red tints of lighting creating a fantastic atmosphere.

But, it was more delightful to see almost every member of the Dexter cast and crew there, with Julie Benz, James Remar, John Lithgow, Aimee Garcia and Sean Patrick Flanery just some of the guests lining up alongside Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter.

Although it was such a sad state of affairs knowing that this was the last premiere party, they cast and crew were questioned by Entertainment Weekly, trying to find the secret of Dexter‘s success.

C.S. Lee who plays Vince Masuka, commented that “it’s all him” when asked about what the success of the show is down to, and Hall must have been a little touched by that. Lee joked, “If Michael is the cake, I think the rest of us, the supporting cast, are the icing on the cake.”

“I think it’s mainly the humanity that Michael has brought to the character which was so counter intuitive and so unlikely” said Geoff Pierson who stars as Tom Matthews.

With Hall taking many of the complements from the cast and crew, we can only hope that the series is as good as that premiere party.

Dexter season 8 premieres on June 30 over on Showtime.
