Dexter will welcome Yvonne Strahovski back as Hannah McKay for season 8 after lengthy rumours of her return. What’s next for Hannah McKay?

Yvonne Strahovski will return to Dexter’s season 8 as Hannah McKay in a report with Entertainment Weekly.

The series has been in production for several weeks, and finally the news has broken that Strahovski will reprise her role as Hannah McKay after she became one of the most liked guest stars the series has seen. There was a doubt as to Strahovski’s involvement of season 8 after Showtime signing on Sean Patrick Flannery and Charlotte Rampling in the off-season, and Showtime being tight-lipped over Strahovski involvement.

Strahovski was first introduced to fans in season 7 and has become Dexter’s most prominent love interest since Rita’s death. McKay was last seen breaking out of prison after receiving medical treatment and leaving a plant pot on Dexter’s doorstep as the series drew its conclusion.

Strahovski took to twitter to reveal the news and claimed that McKay will be coming back to the series to “shake things up” and “add to the turmoil.”

McKay’s last moment with Dexter was when he visited her in prison, with their final moment together seeing McKay draw blood from Dexter in a kiss, splitting his lip open. Scott Buck noted that “She’s got very complicated feelings for Dexter; she loves him and hates him at the same time.”

Fans will surely be asking where McKay’s intentions lie, and we’ll indefinitely have to wait and see what the writers have conjured for fans. Strahovski gave no picture as to whether Dexter and McKay will rekindle their love, or whether McKay will be seeking his death.

What do you think Hannah McKay’s true intentions will be within Dexter season 8? And, are you happy that Strahovski is back?

Be sure to not miss the premiere of Dexter season 8 over on Showtime, June 30.
