Black Adam has found its newest cast member in stand-up comedian Mo Amer.

Update (4/13/21): According to Deadline, Mo Amer is the newest addition to the cast of New Line and DC Films’ upcoming Black Adam movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Unfortunately, fans curious to know more about who Amer will portray in the forthcoming comic book adaptation will have to sit tight. Today’s casting news did not come equipped with further details with regards to the role the stand-up comedian will play in the movie.

Word of Amer’s involvement comes just one week after it was announced that Tony Award nominee James Cusati-Moyer has also joined the cast of Black Adam.

You can brush up on details surrounding Cusati-Moyer’s casting, as well as details for the movie on the whole in our original story below.

Black Adam aside, currently, you can catch Amer headlining his own comedy special on Netflix called Mo Amer: The Vagabond. In addition, he also plays cousin Mo on Hulu’s Ramy.

Original Story (4/7/21):

According to Deadline, James Cusati-Moyer is the latest actor to join the cast of Black Adam starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular character.

Details surrounding the Tony Award nominee’s upcoming role in the film are being kept shrouded in secrecy for now.

That the studios have decided to keep tight lipped on specifics regarding Cusati-Moyer’s role is especially interesting given that they’ve been pretty generous when it comes to casting specifics for Black Adam.

Today’s casting announcement comes just one week following the news that New Line and DC Films have scheduled the movie’s theatrical release for July 29, 2022.

Others set to join Cusati-Moyer in starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in the comic book adaptation include Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell. They’ll be taking on the roles of Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone, respectively.

Behind the camera, Jaume Collet-Serra (who previously worked with Johnson on Disney’s live-action Jungle Cruise movie) will serve as director.

Black Adam centers on the titular character, who also happens to be a long-time nemesis of Shazam.

Originally a corrupted Egyptian prince (and also a predecessor to Captain Marvel), Black Adam eventually becomes an anti-hero who sets out to clear his name and restore his reputation.
