The CW has chosen to cancel freshman dramas The Secret Circle and Ringer. Hart of Dixie and Gossip Girl have been renewed.

Despite earlier confusion and false reports, we can now officially state that The CW has cancelled The Secret Circle and Ringer.

TV Line originally reported that The Secret Circle had been renewed, but quickly added a correction. The post now reads that the show was cancelled along with Ringer, while Hart of Dixie is the only new CW series to receive a second season this year. Sorry for the confusion – we felt it too!

Gossip Girl has been renewed too, but for (you guessed it) a shortened final season. Further, Josh Safran steps down as showrunner, to be replaced for the final 11-episode run by Sara Goodman.
