The CW’s Powerpuff Girls pilot will have to carry on without Chloe Bennet.

According to Variety, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D alum Chloe Bennet has officially bowed out of starring in the forthcoming live-action adaptation of the hit Cartoon Network animated series.

Back in March of this year, it was announced that Bennet had signed on to star as Blossom in the upcoming CW pilot.

The part would have found Bennet starring as one of the three titular superheroes alongside Descendants vet Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault.

Both Cameron and Perrault are still signed on to star as Bubbles and Buttercup, respectively, though there’s no word yet on who will join them in replacing Chloe Bennet as Blossom for Powerpuff.

The search for a new Blossom is set to kick off in the fall of this year, which works twofold in buying the forthcoming pilot some time to iron out the kinks.

Originally, the plan was for Powerpuff to premiere on The CW in the fall of 2021, but the network has since decided to redevelop and reshoot the pilot.

Behind the camera, Heather Regnier and Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juno) are on board to write and executive produce on The CW’s Powerpuff. Meanwhile, powerhouse producer Greg Berlanti is also on board to executive produce along with Sara Schechter, and David Madden. Berlanti, Schechter, and Madden will all produce through the Berlanti Productions banner.

Others set to star opposite Cameron and Perrault on the live-action adaptation include Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, and Nicholas Podany as the villainous Mojo Jojo.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Powerpuff premiere on The CW.
