The story of Claire Wineland is being told in Claire, the new YouTube Original documentary that chronicles the activist’s life.

Claire Wineland is a name many know as an outspoken activist for Cystic Fibrosis and a source of inspiration for individuals with CF and other chronic and terminal illnesses. Wineland spoke around the country and vlogged regularly, and people around the globe tuned in to follow her daily adventures that reminded people that a serious illness didn’t have to mean a bleak, boring, tragic life.

Sadly, Wineland passed away on September 2, 2018, but her impact is far from over.

YouTube just released a documentary called Claire that chronicles Wineland’s life on the first anniversary of Wineland’s passing. Clocking in at just under 40 minutes, the feature will take viewers on a journey from Wineland’s life as a kid, to becoming one of the most well-known advocates for terminal illness, changing how many look at chronic and terminal illness. The documentary was released on Claire Wineland’s official YouTube channel, and you can check it out for free now.

In addition to her work as an activist and advocate, Wineland also served as a consultant on the film Five Feet Apart starring Cole Sprouse. The film is about two teens with CF falling in love while hospitalized, but dealing with their attraction in the face of a serious illness and the rule of staying six feet apart from another CF patient to avoid cross-infection.

Despite passing away at the early age of 21, Wineland’s legacy lives on. In addition to her YouTube channel and social media outlets still being up and running, her life’s work is still going strong.

Wineland’s charity, Claire’s Space Foundation, is still going strong, offering support and help to other individuals with Cystic Fibrosis. The foundation joins newly-diagnosed families with “support families” within the CF community and offers grants to help ease the financial burden of extended hospital stays.

The documentary is utterly beautiful, and a must-see for any fans of Claire Wineland or those interesting in learning more about Cystic Fibrosis. It shows how much impact one person can have when they work to change the world for the better. Claire is a story of hope, strength, and courage, and it is one everyone should check out.
