A new full-length trailer for Cinderella shows us more of Ella’s budding romance with the prince.

Where the first trailer for Disney’s live-action Cinderella basically summarized the fairytale we all know by heart, the second trailer reassures us that there’s some original material in the new movie as well.

Notably, we’ll be spending some time with Richard Madden’s Prince Charming, who seems to have responsibilities and problems of his own that may prevent him from courting Ella (Lily James) straight away.

It also looks like Cinderella’s evil step-mother (played by Cate Blanchett) has a side-plot, which involves getting rid of Cinderella:

The trailer promises that, “There’s more to this legend than you ever dreamed.” And we really hope that’s true! Because while we can’t wait to see Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother, we definitely hope there’s some original story added to the predictable tale.

The story of Cinderella has, after all, been told many times over. And after Once Upon a Time, we expect Hollywood to come up with some original twists when they’re re-hashing old fairytales for the umpteenth time.

Cinderella stars Lily James, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Hayley Atwell, Holliday Grainger, Sophie McShera, Stellan Skarsgård, Derek Jaobi and Nonzo Anozie.
