As Christopher Nolan is beginning production on his sci-fi film Interstellar, a new description of the film has been released.

Now maybe we can figure out what it’s actually about.

According to Deadline, Christoher Nolan’s Interstellar is beginning production today. Normally announcements of this kind aren’t too interesting, but as this Nolan film’s plot isn’t cut and dry (which one ever is?), fans have been curious as to what the film is actually about.

Thankfully, the press release includes a small description that may be helpful:

The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

As we previously told you, Interstellar “centers on the discovery of an energy source from the Hawking radiation from a nearby black hole. Extra-dimensional beings that control the black hole may also exist in the plot. Several plot points are allusions to general relativity and parts of Thorne’s research, including the gravitational red shift that occurs when the character is close to the vicinity of the black hole.”

When those two descriptions are added together the premise becomes a bit clearer, but we really don’t know which way the plot will go.

Whenever Christopher Nolan directs a film it’s very exciting, but perhaps even more exciting is the cast he’s bringing with him on his journey through space this time. Here’s the cast as presented in the press release:

“INTERSTELLAR” features a prestigious cast that includes Matthew McConaughey (“Magic Mike,” “Mud”), Academy Award® winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables,” “The Dark Knight Rises”), Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Tree of Life”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married,” TV’s “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) Academy Award® nominee John Lithgow (“Terms of Endearment,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) Academy Award® nominee Casey Affleck (“The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Gone Baby Gone”), David Gyasi (“Cloud Atlas”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 and 2”) Timothée Chalamet (TV’s “Homeland”), Topher Grace (“Spider-Man 3”), David Oyelowo (“Jack Reacher,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Academy Award® winner Ellen Burstyn (“The Last Picture Show,” “The Exorcist”), and Academy Award® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy).
