There are rumors that Chris Pine might pick up the Green Lantern mantle from Ryan Reynolds in the reboot movie.

You know, slap a mask on Chris Pine’s face, and he’s a dead ringer for Ryan Reynolds, isn’t he?

This might be one of the reasons why he is now being linked with the Green Lantern reboot, which Warner Bros. hopes will revive the flailing franchise.

Reynolds’ 2011 superhero outing famously flopped, but if the actor can make it work — playing Deadpool in the upcoming Marvel movie – surely the Green Lantern franchise can be taken for another test drive.

And Chris Pine’s Star Trek clout might just be enough to pique people’s interest in the remake.

Latino Review first reported this story, noting that while the Green Lantern movie wouldn’t happen until 2020, DC Comics’ Justice League series might want to include the character before then.

Den of Geek adds that Common (who recently won an Oscar for his Selma song), who was cast as the Green Lantern last time Warner Bros. tried to launch Justice League, is still interested in playing the role.
