The first footage from Captain America: Civil War will appear this December in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In other words, the biggest geek movie of 2015 will kick off the promotion for the biggest geek movie of 2016. The marketing wheels go round and round!

The news of the Captain America: Civil War trailer comes from Collider, who did some digging after rumors spread about the trailer being attached to Spectre. A major clue about the actual release came from a photo posted (probably) by Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo, contrasting zoomed-in images of an old Star Wars

While the news isn’t terribly surprising — especially given that both Marvel and Lucasfilm now shelter under the same Disney umbrella – it’s exciting to know when we’ll get to feast on our first proper taste of the MCU-shattering conflict. (See above reference to “biggest geek movie of 2016.”)

Captain America: Civil War is touted as both a standalone Steve Rogers film, and an integral cog in the Avengers storylines. Pretty much anyone who’s anyone is in this movie — in addition to Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johansson, and Paul Rudd will appear as Cap’s fellow Avengers.

Oh, and both Chadwick Bosman and Tom Holland will make their official debuts in the film, as Black Panther and Spider-Man respectively.

Seriously, this movie is going to be insane.

It’s strange to think of other trailers playing in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which hits US theaters on Dec. 18. That movie’s marketing has been highlighted by the release of three internet-wrecking teasers, the most recent of which debuted last week and left movie ticket sites like Fandango weeping in its wake.

And who knows — maybe Captain America: Civil War will do the same next year.

Captain America: Civil War breaks out on May 6, 2016.
