The Call Me By Your Name sequel will feature the original movie’s stars, Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer.

Variety is reporting that we can officially count Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer in for the Call Me By Your Name sequel, Find Me. The film’s director, Luca Guadagnino, confirmed the casting in an interview with Italian newspaper “La Repubblica.”

Both the original movie and the sequel are based on books by André Aciman. Find Me was released in October 2019. The sequel takes place ten years after Call Me By Your Name.

Call Me By Your Name premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival where it entranced audiences with the beauty of the story and the deep emotion it conveyed. Chalamet starred as Elio, a 17 year-old boy, and Hammer starred as Oliver, the handsome PhD student working for Elio’s father. Desire and romance ensued as their life-altering summer unfolded.

It’s great news that the stars are returning for the sequel. It absolutely wouldn’t be the same without their chemistry, even if they do need to be aged up by ten years. “Everyone will be in the new movie,” Guadagnino said in the interview, referencing Chalamet and Hammer, as well as Michael Stuhlbarg and Esther Garrel, who play Mr. Perlman and Marzia, respectively.

In less great news, production on Find Me has been put on hold due to COVID-19 concerns. Hopefully they’ll be able to get things rolling soon so we can get a release date for this highly anticipated sequel!
