Last August, we told you that Ridley Scott would direct a sequel to his classic 1982 sci-fi film Blade Runner. Today, we have news about the sequel’s screenwriter!

It was revealed today that Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote Blade Runner, is in talks to pen the sequel produced by Alcon Entertainment.

We already stated in August that Harrison Ford will not be returning, and today we learned some more news:

Alcon is acknowledging the film is a sequel, and that it takes place some years after the first film concluded.

We’re excited Fancher may return to write the sequel! Are you?

Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
