The Blade Runner sequel has been 30 years in the making, but now Harrison Ford is back as Rick Deckard, joined by Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Jared Leto!

When Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic Blade Runner about a man who hunted down android, humanoid replicas came out in 1982, it became an instant classic.

But decades passed, and the chance for a sequel seemed to have passed us by — but this is the age of Hollywood recycling, and rather than rebooting this one, Ridley Scott has chosen to do that sequel after all!

Set in 2049, the older Rick Deckard finds himself… Check out the teaser below:

The trailer shows Ryan Gosling entering an abandoned mansion, and coming upon an armed Harrison Ford. “I had your job once,” Rick tells the newcomer. “I was good at it.”

Although few plot details have been revealed, we can assume that Ryan Gosling is the new blade runner, and that he has in fact been sent to hunt down Rick himself.

There were talks for a while that Ridley Scott, who helped develop the sequel, would be directing it as well, but the job ended up going to Arrival‘s Denis Villeneuve. Scott currently has his hands full with the Alien sequels, the next of which will be Alien: Covenant.

Blade Runner 2049 also stars Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and Sylvia Hoeks. It hits cinemas on October 7, 2017.
