The first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer has finally been released in HD, and now we can see all the Easter eggs that weren’t visible when the trailer was leaked. Find out why Batman is holding a sniper rifle on top of a skyscraper.

First off, be sure to watch the first official Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, in case you saw the leaked version that forced Warner Bros. to release the trailer a bit earlier than they intended. As the trailer was set to be released on Monday, April 20 in IMAX theaters.

Despite its rough start with the leak Thursday, Batman v Superman’s first trailer is pretty interesting. Even if fans seem to be divided on whether the trailer looks good, or is representative of what we’ll see in the actual movie, there are quite a few Easter eggs in the trailer that you may not even notice the first time you watch it. We take a look at those, and analyze the trailer.

False God

First we see a massive statue of Superman in the dark, and as the camera comes closer, we see lightning strike, and someone has graffitied “false god” on the statue in red paint. This is our first clue that not everyone on Earth is entirely happy that Superman is around. He did, after all, take part in destroying a major city in Man of Steel when fighting General Zod.

Superman is still saving falling satellites

In another shot we see that Superman is doing good deeds. In this image, he can be seen saving what looks to be a Russian space satellite, meaning his crime fighting and good deeds are going global, something Batman isn’t capable of doing. We’re wondering if Batman might be pissed about Superman getting all the glory, despite Batman fighting crime for the last couple decades.

Affleck is playing an older Bruce Wayne

While we listen to the great Jeremy Irons as Alfred, we see Affleck looks a bit older here. We knew this was going to be the case, but it means he’s been fighting crime as Batman for years, possibly before Superman even came to Earth. He doesn’t look too happy about the fact that Superman is getting all the spotlight and love from the people, when he’s the one cleaning up the streets. He also has reasons not to trust Superman, as he was responsible for a devastating event on Earth.

Superman is being worshipped

We see military men kneeling to Superman when he steps into a room, meaning they think he may be a god, and they respect him immensely, but it’s shown later that local police don’t see Batman in the same sort of way. This should cause some friction in the film, and may be the entire reason the two superheroes are pitted against one another. You may also notice that the soldiers have Superman’s symbol on their right shoulder.

Jesse Eisenberg has a voiceover as Lex Luthor

During the voiceovers, we can hear actor Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, who says, “We know better now, don’t we? Devils don’t come from hell beneath us, they come from the sky.” We don’t get a look at Lex Luthor just yet, but we see he’s already doubting Superman’s reasons for being on Earth. The billionaire will be a prominent character in the film, and we don’t know who the main villain will be yet, although the next hint gives us an idea.

The voiceovers include at least four people of interest that we can make out. Those include actresses Holly Hunter, possibly Gal Gadot, television talk show host Charlie Rose, and popular astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who says, “We’re talking about a being whose very existence challenges our own sense of priority in the universe.”

The Riddler’s sign appears

We don’t know for sure whether the Riddler will be in the film, but his signature is all over this trailer, with the Riddler’s symbol being painted on a column highlighted in the image below. It’s unclear who the central villain will be, but we doubt the entire film will be about Batman and Superman fighting each other.

Batman’s one rule will be broken

We get a chance to see the Batmobile and the Batwing, which are featured quite a bit in the trailer. Seeing the Batwing (called The Bat in The Dark Knight Rises) was exciting, as it lights up some criminals on the streets of Gotham, this Batman has no problems shooting and killing people apparently — which leads us to our next Easter egg.

Batman holds a sniper rifle on a skyscraper

Batman has always had one rule: Do not kill. But it doesn’t look like he’ll be abiding to that rule because that isn’t an antenna he’s holding onto on the top of that building, it’s a sniper rifle. After seeing him shoot criminals on the street with the Batwing, we think this Batman will be a bit more brutal than we’re used to seeing on the big screen.

Superman is going to hear Batman’s problems with him

As Batman makes his way outside, his eyes are glowing, Superman is seen floating above him on a dark, rainy night. As the lightning flashes, we get a glimpse of Superman keeping tabs on Batman, and Batman doesn’t seem to like this one bit. Superman is still learning the ropes, so he may not know yet whether to trust Batman either.

Batman asks Superman a simple question

During the final scene, Batman says, “Tell me, do you bleed?” As Superman flies down toward him, Batman follows it up with, “You will.” These guys clearly aren’t getting along just yet, and while they may end up fighting alongside each other, they’re going to battle at some point. That tank-armor Batman is wearing should give him some help fighting “the most powerful being on Earth.”

These are just some of the great scenes from the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, so be sure to let us know if you spotted any other Easter eggs from the newly released trailer that we missed.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s release date is set for March 25, 2016. Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will return to co-star with Ben Affleck as Batman, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
