Don’t worry buddy. It killed us too.

Of course, those that understand the politics behind Hollywood studios and Marvel comics know that it wasn’t going to happen, but since Spidey became an Avenger in the original comics, it makes sense that Garfield might watch the film with a kind of longing.

Unless Disney and Sony lawyers work up the holy grail of contracts, we may never see Spidey join The Avengers, but Garfield says he’s ready if Samuel L. Jackson ever comes knocking on his door.

I saw it, and I was blown away. And I’m going to see it again this weekend. I have no problem adding to the amount of money it’s making! [Laughs.] Joss Whedon is a genius, and it’s an incredible cast. I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them. It killed me that I wasn’t in it, but I understand why, and I’m not insulted. But hey, if Samuel L. Jackson wants to give me a shout, I’m there for the next one!

What do you think? Is there a chance that we’ll see Spider-Man join The Avengers at some point? Rumors say that Sony hasn’t been faring particularly well, so would they ever sell off their cash cow? How complicated would the paperwork be to just transfer Garfield into Avengers 2?
