American Gods season 3 will continue on Starz!

Perhaps we will get to see Lakeside after all! With the announcement that American Gods season 3 is officially greenlit at its home network, Starz also confirmed that the series will welcome a new showrunner, Charles “Chic” Eglee, according to a report by Variety.

Early ratings for the second season premiere must have been just right for the network and production partners to reup their investment in the series. “Audiences continue to worship at the altar of American Gods and we are excited to be able to announce to all the true believers that there is more of this fantastical series to come,” Starz programming boss Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement.

The author of American Gods, Neil Gaiman, has been involved with the project as an executive producer since day one and has been a tentpole in the production. Commenting on the arrival of Eglee, Gaiman said, “We’ve been working for weeks now on the shape of the season and I’m delighted that he gets to carry the American Gods torch on to glory.”

Gaiman also noted the efforts of the partners who have supported the series and helped make it into what it has become. “Thank you to Fremantle, Starz and Amazon for having faith in the series, to Bryan [Fuller], Michael [Green] and Jesse [Alexander] for bringing it this far, to all the cast and crew, and most of all to the viewers. It’s their love of the characters that took us to this point, and will take us on to the next chapter.”

The season 2 premiere took fans of the book to a place that words cannot quite capture with the aptly titled “House on the Rock.” Still to come, the journey will take us to Cairo, picking up Sam Black Crow and meeting Mr. Town along the way.

For those who were nervous that the series would end before reaching Lakeside, well, we can finally breathe a bit easier.

American Gods season 2 airs new episodes Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET on Starz.
