Fantastic Beasts director David Yates is apparently close to landing his first choice for Queenie, actress and singer Alison Sudol.

The cast of J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is really coming together!

We have our Newt (Eddie Redmayne) and our Tina (Katherine Waterston), and now, Variety has learned that Alison Sudol is close to landing the part of Queenie.

Queenie is one of the characters Rowling revealed a few months back. The younger sister of Porpentina (Newt’s future wife), Queenie is described as a “bombshell.”

You might best know Alison Sudol as the voice behind A Fine Frenzy, but she’s also a talented actress, best known for her role as Kaya in Transparent, and Emma in Dig.

Variety claims that Sudol has been David Yates’ top choice, “for some time,” and that the director hasn’t met with any other actresses since she read for the part.

Both Kate Upton and Katherine Waterston also tested for Queenie, with Waterston now tapped for the role of Tina.

Meanwhile, Ezra Miller (who co-starred with Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower) appears close to landing a part in the movie as well. Intriguingly, he’s not rumored to play Jacob, but rather a character named Kredan.

As for Jacob? Variety says that both Josh Gad and John Krasinski have tested for the role, with a decision expected within the next few days. Any preference?
