Sarge reveals a flair for the dramatic — and a few familiar specs — in an exclusive clip from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6, episode 2.

The cast and crew of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will swear up and down that this Sarge fellow is not Phil Coulson. But as this clip from “Window of Opportunity” demonstrates, the series isn’t shying away from similarities beyond the fact that both characters are played by Clark Gregg.

Whoever this new guy is, he definitely shares Coulson’s fondness for a good pair of sunglasses — though it’s unclear what Coulson would think of Sarge’s taste in shades.

In the new clip from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6, episode 2, Sarge and his minions wreak a bit of havoc in a gas station. Unlike Coulson, Sarge clearly has no qualms about ruckus or intimidation, though he gathers what he seems to think is important information as his crew mows through the store.

Yes, our world runs largely on paper money and combustion-firearms. But at least we have plenty of sugary drinks.

But like Coulson, Sarge takes the time to offer the store-owner a bit of advise. “People fantasize about doing something dramatic in times like these,” he tells the frightened man coldly. “You don’t look like a hero to me.”

Yeah, Coulson probably would have put it a bit more kindly. But between the Sarge advice, the sunglasses, and the clear penchant for a very specific set of wheels, it seems like “Window of Opportunity” may expose more similarities between Coulson and Sarge than initially meets the eye.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6, episode 2, “Window of Opportunity,” airs Friday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
