Fall is the perfect time for spooky, jump-out-of-your-seat TV. Here’s how to get your fix in 2018.

The air’s getting colder, the leaves are getting crunchier, and nighttime is approaching earlier each night. Halloween gets most of the glory, but the entire fall season has some serious creepy cred.

So, forget about all the light-hearted comedies and gut-punching dramas coming out this fall and pick up one of these exciting new thriller series instead.

‘You’

Penn Badgley is back to his creepy Gossip Girl ways in You. Instead of stalking the secrets of the upper east siders, this time, he’s super stalking his girlfriend. Based on the trailer, it looks like the perfect thriller for 2018. Facebook and insta-stalking are basically main characters.

You is based on a novel of the same name by Caroline Kepne. It is produced by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl) and Leslie Morgenstein (The 100, TVD, The Originals) and along with Penn Badgley, the show also features Shay Mitchell of Pretty Little Liars.

You premieres on Lifetime on September 9. Check out the trailer here!

‘Castle Rock’

As if one of Stephen King’s stories isn’t scary enough, Castle Rock brings the entire Stephen King multiverse into one, terrifying TV show. The show follows the residents of Castle Rock, although I’m not sure how the town still has residents with all the spooky stuff that happens there!

Castle Rock is telling an original story, so anyone can enjoy it, but there are plenty of Easter eggs for King fans to obsess over. Standouts from the amazing ensemble cast are Bill Skarsgård, who recently played Pennywise in It, and Sissy Spacek, who played Carrie in the film adaptation.

The series premiered on July 25 on Hulu, but there’s still time to catch up before the season finale on September 12. Good news for those who fall in love with it, the show has already been picked up for season 2!

Check out the trailer if you’re somehow still not sure.

‘Tell Me A Story’

Fans of The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon a Time will find a lot to love in Tell Me A Story…as long as they like things a little on the darker side. Paul Wesley (Stefan in TVD), Danielle Campbell (Davina in The Originals) and Kevin Williamson (creator of TVD and Scream) are teaming up for a dark, psychological fairy tale thriller.

The show will tackle three fairy tales each season, and look at them through the lens of the gritty streets of New York. Season 1 will dive into The Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel, and Little Red Riding Hood. However, when the pigs are robbing a bank and Little Red meets her “wolf” in a dance club, it’s bound to get interesting.

Tell Me A Story premieres on October 30 on CBS All Access. Watch the trailer, and then check out the show before you go trick-or-treating this year.

‘Ghoul’

Ghoul is being made by the people behind Insidious and Get Out, and it looks every bit as scary. This one looks like it’s more horror than thriller, but it’s still bound to keep you entertained through this TV season.

The show tells the story of a prisoner at a military interrogation center who ends up turning things around on the interrogators using some pretty twisted means. The trailer repeats the words, “reveal their guilt, eat their flesh,” so…maybe watch this one with the lights on.

Ghoul was released on Netflix on Aug 24. Watch the trailer and let the haunting begin.

‘The Purge’

People can’t seem to get enough of The Purge movies, so luckily, there will soon be an entire season of “release.” On September 4, the 10 episode TV event will commence, which means you can basically live out the 12-hour Purge in real time.

Based on the trailer, it just looks like a lot more of what the movies have to offer, so if you’re a fan of The Purge movie series, you’ll definitely be into the television adaptation.
