Zero Dark Thirty‘s writer and producer are re-teaming for the dramatization of the already dramatic events surrounding the U.S. Presidential Election.

We remember it like it was yesterday — because it practically was — but Hollywood is already working on an adaptation of the 2016 election that led us to the administrative mess currently filling up your social media news feed.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project is planned as a miniseries, with Oscar-winning scriptwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) penning the script and Megan Ellison producing.

The 8-10 hour miniseries will employ a team of investigative journalists to break down the story and fill in the intricate details of the race to the Presidency between Trump and Clinton.

After working together on Zero Dark Thirty, Boal and Ellison went on to work with Kathryn Bigelow again on the forthcoming Untitled Detroit Project, which tells the story of the 1967 Detroit riot and stars John Boyega.

No word yet as to whether Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon will step in to play Trump and Clinton in this miniseries event — frankly, it would be hard to accept a substitute for either candidate!

Your take: Is it too soon for a Hollywood adaptation of the 2016 election?
